Puutarhassa In the garden

Siiri ja Iivari ovat istuttaneet puutarhaan lisää kukkia.

There are two new flowerbeds in the garden. This is the first one.

Suihkukaivo piti siirtää toiseen paikkaan.

Some arrangements were needed. The fountain had to be moved to the other side of the path.

Talon seinustallekin he tekivät kukkapenkin.

The second flowerbed is in front of the house.

Iivari punoi rottingista köynnöstuen ja siihen istutettiin isokukkainen kärhö. Kärhön juurella on maanpeitekasvi varjostamassa kärhön juuristoa.

Iivari wove an obelisk for the clematis with big flowers. There is also a small plant to shadow the roots of clematis.

Kasvit ovat kasvaneet reheviksi, koska on satanut lähes päivittäin.

All the plants have grown very well owing to the daily rain.

Siiri on kitkenyt valtavan määrän rikkaruohoja puutarhasta. Siiri on varsin tyytyväinen puutarhaan, mutta hän haluaisi vielä pelargonioita puutarhaansa.

A big basket is full of weeds. Siiri is quite satisfied with their garden but she would like to have some geraniums.

Aita on valmis!

Iivari aloitti työt verstaassaan aamulla varhain. Portit oli saatava valmiiksi.

Iivari started his project in his workroom early in the morning. He had to complete the gates.

Iltapäivällä monen tunnin työskentelyn jälkeen puutarhaa ympäröi uusi valkoinen aita. Aidassa on kaksi porttia. Toisesta kuljetaan puutarhaan ja toisesta naapurin puolelle.

In the afternoon after many hours work the garden looked like this. There is a white fence around the garden. There are 2 gates in the fence. The first one leads to the garden and the other one to the neighbor.

Siiri on erityisen tyytyväinen aitaan. Kukkia hän haluaisi lisää puutarhaansa. Siinä taitaa olla hänen seuraava projektinsa.

Siiri is very satisfied with the fence. But she would like to have more flowers in her garden. That might be her next project.

Työt ovat jatkuneet

Siiri ja Iivari työskentelivät eilen myöhälle yöhön. Iivari sahasi yhteensä 101 lautaa ja Siiri hio ne kaikki. Yhdessä he kokosivat niistä nämä aitakappaleet ja 2 veräjää.

Siiri and Iivari worked yesterday till the night. Iivari sawed 101 boards and Siiri sandpapered them. As the result of the whole day they got these pieces of fence and 2 gates.

Verstaalla on nyt aika ahdasta. Iivari päätti aloittaa maalaustyön heti aamulla.

It is quite crowded in the workroom now. Iivari decided to do the painting job alone. 

Verstaalla jälleen

Iivari on remontoinut verstastaan parempaan kuntoon. Pahviseinän tilalle hän on tehnyt haapalaudoista seinän. Verstas oli aikaisemmin aika pimeä, koska siellä ei ollut mitään ikkunaa. Nyt sellainen on ja aurinko paistaa liiankin kirkkaasti.
Tänään on alkanut uusi projekti. Iivari on sahannut suuren määrän lautoja pyörösahallaan.


Iivari has decorated his workroom in the last few days. The walls are now made of aspen. The room was earlier quite dark because it hasn´t a window at all.  Now there is a window and the sun is shining too bright.
His has started a new project today. His has sawn many boards with his circular saw.

Siiri on tullut Iivarin avuksi. Iivari neuvoo hänelle, miten laudat on hiottava hiekkapaperilla reunoistaan sileiksi. Projekti ei tule tänään valmiiksi, vaan se vie monta päivää.
Siiri has come to help Iivari. Iivari guides Siiri to sand the boards with sand paper. It takes several days to complete the project. 

Iivarin kesäasu

Kesäkuu on ollut tänä vuonna harvinaisen kuuma. Iivarilla ei ole ollut ollenkaan kesävaatteita, joten Siiri päätti ilahduttaa häntä puuvillashortseilla ja lyhythihaisella paidalla. Vaatteet tuntuvat päällä hyviltä ja housulla voi vaivatta istua.
June has been exceptionally hot this yeas. Iivari hasn´t had sommer clothes at all and it has been so hot with jeans and long sleeve shirt. Siiri decided to make Iivari glad and sewed him  a short sleeve shirt and cotton shorts. The clothes seem to fit perfectly and it is easy to sit with the shorts.

Siiri ei unohtanut tehdä paitaan myös taskua, johon Iivari voi laittaa lyijykynän tai jonkun pienen työkalun.

There is a pocket on the shirt. Siiri didn´t forget to sew it. It is necessary for the pencil or some small tool.

Toinen kesämekko

Sateinen sää jatkui eilen yöhön saakka. Siiri ompeli itselleen vielä toisenkin mekon. Se on malliltaan vähän erilainen, koska siinä on istutetut hihan. Mekko on Iivarin mielestä huomattavasti kauniimpi kuin edellinen. Väri ainakin on kauniimpi.
Kankaan lopuista Siiri ompeli vielä Murullekin mekon.

It rained yesterday till the night. So Siiri had time to sew another dress for herself. The model differs from the first one. Iivari thought the colour of this dress is nicer. 
Muru got also a new dress of the scraps of the fabric.

Siiri ehti ommella myös Murun sängylle pari tyynyä.

Muru got some new cushions on her bed.

Sateisen päivän puuhia

Eilen meillä oli tämän kesän kuumin päivä ja kostein päivä, yli +30 astetta. Tänään puolestaan on ollut kesän sateisin päivä ja on ukkostanut moneen kertaan. Puutarhassa olisi ollut työtä, mutta sen sijaan Siiri on ommellut itselleen kesäisen mekon arkikäyttöön. Se on ommeltu puuvillakankaasta.

Yesterday was the warmest and dampest day of this years, over +30 degrees Celcius. It has been raining and thundering today, all day long. Siiri has been sewing a cotton dress for herself.
